The School of Becoming Human is an authentic lineage of initiation and does not compromise on what is required to catalyze inner freedom, true purpose and deep intimacy:

This is what we call Personhood.

It is VERY different from most personal growth and self-improvement tools: workshops, coaching, podcasts, books, courses and programs. 

These wonderful assets belong to the right hand path of our culture – Cultivating skill and virtue and mastery; Slaying dragons of insecurity and trauma.

But you know these don’t take you all the way home. If they did you would already be there.

Becoming Human takes a left-handed turn onto the road less travelled where freedom reigns. Nothing is forbidden. Nothing is required.

All that matters is the freedom to experience every facet of your humanity while staying in your heart.

On this path you turn toward the doorway you have designed your whole life to avoid….

And step willingly and joyfully across the threshold.

 1. We are about Initiation not information

There is no substitute for direct experience. In-your-body, visceral needle moving experience in THIS moment.

No substances. No altered states. Just you and reality. Whether you like it or not.

You can read all books. You can listen to all podcasts. You can get all the information in the world and STILL stay right where you started.

Why? Information produces insight. And insight only takes us so far. It can make powerful shifts at the beginning of our journey but is ultimately insufficient to catalyze the deepest access to freedom and love.

Becoming Human is the path of direct experience.

Our students start at the place where more information is not going to help very much.

Instead, we support you to move from insight to direct experience and, ultimately, receiving that experience deep in your heart so that it becomes the place you live from.

2. Personal, direct contact is paramount

Large gatherings are powerful tools for creating big ripples of energy on the right-handed path.  

They are not as useful in the day to day living out of freedom and love.

On the journey to inner sovereignty one person’s medicine is another person’s poison.

Initiation requires us to recognize which is which. 

For this reason, the School of Becoming Human keeps things small.

Every student gets personal attention and 1-on-1 sessions.

 3. Relating to other humans matters

While honoring each human’s particularity, the connection with a small group of kindred humans speeds and empowers our individual journeys. 

The School of Becoming Human creates a field of relational contact, rather than social contact.

We learn relate from our true nature – our Personhood – rather than our false identities – our personality – as rocket fuel for truth.

Most of us have rarely been in relational contact with the Other without our social masks.

As we practice this, some of the most ancient and stubborn obstacles to freedom and intimacy dissolve in the space between human hearts on fire with the same love of the real.

Where does this Becoming Human path lead?

Freedom – The end of suffering. The capacity to choose to experience the rapture of being alive. No matter the inner or outer circumstance.

Intimacy – Relating from freedom allows for the impossible to become possible in relationship with other humans. You create cornerstones of trust and vitality, passion and commitment, without the habits of self-betrayal.

Purpose – Life calls you to live where your deep joy meets the world’s deep need. Arriving at this place can only be done from our Personhood and not our personality.

How do we get you there?

Direct Experience – Every session is based in cultivating and experiential, direct experience of freedom and love in the moment. From the very beginning we put the rapture of being alive at the center of our journey.

Practice – How quickly we overcome our hidden addiction to the false self is directly proportional to how much time we clock in our hearts. The School of Becoming Human offers hours of dedicated practice time every month and the support of other practitioners on the same journey.

Guidance – Every group or 1-on-1 session is facilitated. One person’s medicine is not the next person’s. Ernest guides you into deeper and deeper encounters with your habits and your truth every step of the way.

 Becoming Human is not for the faint of heart

Without being initiated into a deep moment to moment capacity to choose freedom you cannot live in love. Not fully.

Instead, you will live life and relationship with others in between your triggers and within an ocean of unmet expectations.

You’ll pretend this is just how life is for humans. But it’s not. 

When you are called to freedom you have an ache in your bones. You don’t want to give up the experience what your heart really wants: to be fully alive and in love.

If we are to enter through this door Life demands all of. We can’t hold anything back. It has no time for our tolerance of unfreedom.

Life wants YOU and YOUR HEART more than it cares about protecting you from being confronted by your amateur habits of self-protection.

Love is hunting for you like a pride of lions tracks a gazelle.

And maybe you are getting too tired to keep running.

The initiation:

Over six months each student initiates themselves into the living practice of Personhood – the capacity to meet each moment with courage and experience the dignity and joy of fulfilling our calling as human beings. We are called to create and enjoy beauty, to build relationships and communities where we can win together, and to know and feel the larger currents of Life moving through us as we go.

The School of Becoming Human unfolds in three movements: The Music, the Dance, and the Play.

The Music

 

First, we learn the musical notes that offer the foundational building blocks of beauty. These allow us to encounter reality, the ultimate teacher, for ourselves and begin to take the single step on the path to Personhood – locating the verifiable truth. 

First Month

• The Path of Personhood: The left-handed turn our culture doesn’t teach

• How We Walk the Path of Personhood: The one step that makes all the difference

• Soul Force: The alchemical nature of reality and the path of effortless action

• Betting Your Life: Experiential vs. factual truth and which matters when the stakes are high

Second Month

• The Crux: The consciousnesses of Personhood and personality and why it matters which we live from.

• The Power of “I”: Who you are before and beneath and beyond your circumstances.

• I Am Alive: The enoughness of existing that we never experience from our personality.

• I Am Me and Not You: The particularity we each experience and why it matters.

The Dance

The Dance moves us into our relationship with the life that is moving all around us and through us and beneath us. Here we encounter so many of the deepest truths that human beings have been helping each other access for millennia – but we do it from our own felt experience! 

Third Month

• Life Is Making Me Happen: Contacting the effortlessness of existence.

• Receiving the Gift of My Life: Finding the pearl of great price.

• I Am About Life: Setting down the burden of our agendas.

• I Am Having An Experience: The inescapable beauty of the world around us.

Fourth Month

• Life Is Holding Me: The secret to belonging and the answer to our childhood pain.

• Choosing Me First: The path of true love is hidden in personhood.

• Choosing Not To Know: Our full humanity is our true calling.

• The Mafia of the Mind: Our addiction to problems and control

The Play

The Play is when we take the music and the dance and begin to freestyle. We start finding the tricky ways we hide from the reality that sets us free and come face to face with our half-heartedness and see if we will set it aside. 

Fifth Month

• The Gospel of No Problem: Emancipation from mental slavery.

• Inner Sovereignty: Nothing happens inside of me without my permission.

• The Only Real Obstacle: When we don’t want love and refuse to enjoy the moment

• Playing with Personhood: Creating our own practice of self-revelation.

Sixth Month

• The World Has Nothing For Me: How we can create civilization without violence

• The Contours of My Being: Living wholeheartedly without striving and stress

• I Can’t Screw This Up: Liberation and salvation are not what we think they are.

• The Beauty Way: What happens when the center of our lives is an orientation to beauty.

• The Rapture of Being Alive: Living from Personhood as a way of life.

 The School of Becoming Human Initiation

• Six months (25 weeks) long: Two cohort sessions per week. 50 cohort sessions in total.

• 1-on-1 Mentoring: Each student receives six 1-on-1 sessions with Ernest as well as being ina six-month personal container of ongoing support via text, email and voice.

• Online Platform: All recordings and teaching resources will be accessible online for the duration of the program.

• Retreat: All students receive free tuition ($1250) to the Rapture of Being Alive Retreat during or after the initiation.

This is a true sliding scale. Full access at any price point within the sliding scale. Each student is invited to invest at a level they feel represents a deep commitment to show up and keep showing up even when it gets uncomfortable to do so.
